Biography

Narciso Ibáñez Menta was born in Sama de Langreo, Asturias, Spain, to a family of notable theatrical artists. At the tender age of seven, he embarked on a tour through Spain and America, accompanied by his family, which laid the foundation for his future career in the entertainment industry.

As he grew older, Narciso made his way to Argentina, where he began his acting career in the suspense film "A Light In The Window" (Una luz en la ventana),directed by the renowned Manuel Romero, in 1941. This marked the beginning of his long and illustrious career in the world of cinema, particularly in the genres of fantasy and horror.

Throughout his career, Narciso Ibáñez Menta appeared in numerous films, including "Crime Stories" (1942),"Three Appointments With Fate" (Tres citas con el destino, 1953),and "Masterworks Of Terror" (1959),which he also co-created with his son Narciso "Chicho" Ibañez Serrador. The latter film and its subsequent television series were groundbreaking in the Argentine horror genre and solidified Narciso's position as a pioneer in the field.

In the early 1960s, Narciso and his son collaborated on several successful horror and suspense series in both Argentina and Spain, including the popular television miniseries "The Man Who Returned From Death" (El hombre que volvió de la muerte),which was taped in Argentina in 1969. Unfortunately, very little of his television work in Argentina is currently available, as the original recordings were either lost or taped over with new material.

Narciso Ibáñez Menta continued to work in the horror genre, starring in films such as "The Saga Of Dracula" (1972) and the Sebastián D'Arbo trilogy: "Journey to the Beyond" (Viaje al más allá, 1980),"The Entity" (El ser, 1982),and "Beyond Death" (Más allá de la muerte, 1986).

In recognition of his contributions to the world of horror and suspense, a documentary about Narciso Ibáñez Menta, titled "Nadie inquietó más" (No One Was More Unsettling),was released in 2008, directed by Gustavo Mendoza. The film premiered at the Buenos Aires Rojo Sangre Film Festival, paying tribute to the life and career of this influential Spanish artist.
