Biography

Nanette, a German Shepherd, was the devoted companion of the renowned canine star Rin-Tin-Tin. In 1919, Rin-Tin-Tin's owner, Lee Duncan, adopted Nanette as a playmate for the charismatic canine, and together they were brought to Los Angeles, where they began participating in agility competitions. The following year, Rin-Tin-Tin made his film debut in The Man From Hell's River, with Nanette making her cinematic debut alongside him.

Throughout their illustrious careers, Nanette and Rin-Tin-Tin appeared together in numerous films, including Trapped By The Police, Life's Little Troubles, and Hero Of The Big Snows, solidifying their status as a beloved onscreen duo. Their impressive earning potential was a testament to their enduring popularity, with the pair raking in over $200,000 annually.

Off-screen, Rin-Tin-Tin and Nanette were inseparable, sharing a luxurious life with Lee in a grand mansion on Club View Drive in Beverly Hills. The devoted couple proudly parented an impressive 48 puppies, with some notable Hollywood stars, such as Greta Garbo and Jean Harlow, receiving one of these adorable canine companions as a gift.

Tragedy struck in August 1932, when Rin-Tin-Tin passed away at the tender age of 14. Nanette continued to reside with Lee, eventually retiring from her acting career. Despite the loss of her beloved companion, Nanette's legacy lived on through her offspring, many of whom went on to become successful canine actors, carrying on the remarkable legacy of Rin-Tin-Tin and Nanette.
