Minisha Lamba was born into a Punjabi-speaking Sikh family residing in New Delhi, consisting of her father Kewal, mother Manju, and brother Karan. Her initial career aspirations were to become a journalist, rather than an actress, and she had not planned to pursue a life in the film industry. However, she developed a passion for modeling and was fortunate enough to be selected to model for Cadbury. Her intention was to complete her education, focus on an academic career, and model on the side.
Minisha successfully completed her schooling in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, as well as in Srinagar's Army School. She then majored in English with Honors in 2004 from Delhi University's affiliate, Miranda House.
Her entry into the film industry was unexpected, as she was auditioning for a Cadbury commercial in Delhi. Bollywood Director Shoojit Sircar approached her and signed her to act in the film "Yahaan" (2005). She subsequently changed her first name to Minissha.
The success of "Yahaan" launched her career as an actress, and she relocated to Mumbai, where she has since starred in over a dozen movies. Some of her more notable roles include "Corporate", "Heyy Babyy", "Bachna Ae Haseeno", and "Well Done Abba".
