Mikel Cee Karlsson is a multifaceted creative force, serving as a director, writer, editor, cinematographer, and co-owner of the esteemed production company Plattform Produktion, alongside Erik Hemmendorff, Ruben Östlund, and Axel Danielson.
The company's impressive accolades include two Palme d'or awards, in 2017 and 2022, respectively. Mikel's extensive filmography boasts three feature-length documentaries, including "Greetings from the woods", which premiered at the Locarno Film Festival in 2009 as part of its in-competition lineup.
His subsequent documentary, "The Extraordinary Ordinary Life of José González", was showcased in the Nordic Competition at the GIFF in 2010 and later selected for the Official Selection at the Hot Docs film festival in 2011. In 2019, Mikel's documentary "Fraemling" premiered at the CPH:DOX film festival, where it received two Guldbagge Award nominations, including Best Documentary Film.
Mikel has also ventured into writing and editing, having co-authored and edited the documentary "The scars of Ali Boulala", which screened at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2021 as part of its in-competition lineup. Furthermore, he edited the critically acclaimed film "Triangle of sadness", which claimed the Palme d'or at the Cannes Film Festival in 2022.
