Biography

Michael Ontkean, renowned for his captivating portrayal of minor league hockey player Ned Braden in the cult classic Slap Shot (1977),was born on January 24, 1946, in Vancouver, British Columbia, to Leonard and Muriel (née Cooper) Ontkean, both accomplished actors. Raised in a Catholic household, Michael attended Catholic elementary and high schools, where he developed a passion for hockey, much like many young Canadian men of his era.
