Michael France, a renowned screenwriter, has had an impressive career with his movies earning over one billion dollars in worldwide theatrical admissions and at least another billion dollars in home video revenues.
Born in 1962, France pursued higher education by graduating from the University of Florida and attending Columbia University's School Of The Arts.
His breakthrough screenplay was his 1991 spec sale for Cliffhanger to Carolco Pictures, which was shot within the year and became a worldwide hit in 1993, starring Sylvester Stallone and Renny Harlin. France then went on to revive the dormant James Bond franchise with his script for GoldenEye, which yielded a worldwide hit in 1995. He continued his association with the franchise, working uncredited on The World Is Not Enough, released in 1999.
France's string of Marvel adaptations began with Hulk (2003) for Universal Pictures, followed by The Punisher (2004) for Lions Gate, and culminated in the blockbuster release of Fantastic Four (2005) for Twentieth Century Fox.
In his personal life, France lived in Florida with his wife Elizabeth, son Thomas, and two daughters, Annabelle and Carolynn. Sadly, he passed away in April 2013 at the age of 51.
