Michael was born in Victoria, British Columbia, but his childhood was marked by a significant move to Southern Manitoba, Canada, where he spent his formative years on a small family farm.
From a very young age, Michael has been drawn to the world of performance, and his journey began in theatre. As he grew older, he migrated westward to pursue opportunities in film and television. In the late 1980s, he arrived in Vancouver, where he continued to hone his craft in theatre while also appearing on television shows such as "Northwood" and "Neon Rider".
In addition to his acting career, Michael is also a talented singer-songwriter and recording artist. In the mid-1990s, he began to focus more intently on his music, releasing two albums of original compositions. During this period, he spent considerable time on the road and in the studio, and the video for his song "Change in the Weather", directed by Jason Bourque, was nominated for a prestigious Leo Award.
After a hiatus from acting, Michael returned to the screen around 2006, appearing in a diverse range of film and television productions. His breakthrough role came with the lead part in the indie feature "Black Mountain Side", which received widespread critical acclaim and had a successful international festival run. In 2017, Michael relocated to the East Coast, where he continued to work on various projects in Montreal, Toronto, and Ottawa. His first audition upon arrival landed him a role as a professor in the Hollywood feature "On the Basis of Sex".
Throughout his career, Michael has also demonstrated his versatility by taking on behind-the-scenes roles as a producer in both film and music. Recently, he has begun to apply his skills as a screenwriter and currently has a feature film and a short film ready to go into production.
