Merata Mita, a renowned and accomplished producer and director, entered this world on the 19th of June, 1942, in the picturesque town of Maketu, situated in the stunning Bay of Plenty region of New Zealand.
Throughout her illustrious career, Mita made a lasting impact on the film industry, leaving behind a legacy of memorable productions, including the critically acclaimed films "Boy" (2010),"Patu!" (1983),and "Mauri" (1988).
In her personal life, Mita was married to the talented Geoff Murphy, with whom she shared a deep and abiding love.
Sadly, Merata Mita's life came to a close on the 31st of May, 2010, in Auckland, New Zealand, a city that had been her home for many years.
