Biography

Melanie Haynes, a talented actress, has made a name for herself by delivering remarkable performances across various mediums, including film, television, commercials, voice-over, and more. Born in a small Kansas town, Haynes developed her passion for the arts from a young age, studying dance, piano, and drama.

When her family relocated to Texas, Haynes attended Lamar University, where she won the Best Actress award in her sophomore year. She later earned a degree and teaching certificate in Theater and English from the University of Houston. After college, Haynes danced with Patsy Swayze's Houston Jazz Ballet Company for several years before her love for acting led her to pursue a different path.

Haynes' extensive film and television credits include both big studio and network productions, as well as prominent indie projects. She has shared the screen with several Academy Award winners, including Dianne Wiest in The Face of Rage and Mahershala Ali in HBO's True Detective. Additionally, she voiced characters in Sony's Oscar-winning Best Animated Feature, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, alongside numerous A-listers.

Throughout her career, Haynes has received recognition for her portrayal of a wide range of characters. Some of her most notable roles include a wicked doula in Terror Films' creepy Blood Born, a cumbersome aunt in the quirky comedy Antiquities, a baseball bat-wielding Texas bar owner in The Last Mark, and a supportive mother in Lifetime's The Road Home for Christmas.

While balancing her career with family life, Haynes has also thrived as a voice-over artist and founded her own studio in 2002, which remains successful to this day. She has proudly served 15 years on the board of SAG-AFTRA's Houston Local Branch and as the President for two terms. Today, Haynes divides her time between Los Angeles and Houston, and despite being a grandmother, she continues to embody the spirit of "refined, not tamed".
