Maximilien Van Aertryck, a multi-talented film professional, hails from France, with roots in French, German, and Swedish cultures. His creative journey began while attending film school in Gothenburg, Sweden, where he crossed paths with Axel Danielson. The two discovered a shared cinematic language, and their collaboration started in 2013.
In the same year, Van Aertryck joined Plattform Produktion, a pioneering production company co-founded by Erik Hemmendorff and Ruben Östlund, the acclaimed director of Triangle of Sadness. This marked the beginning of a fruitful partnership that would yield numerous notable projects.
Fast forward to 2017, Van Aertryck and Danielson co-produced and directed the groundbreaking short documentary, Ten Meter Tower. This critically acclaimed film earned them a spot on the shortlist for the 2017 Academy Award and a nomination for an Emmy Award. Their short films have since premiered in the official competitions of esteemed film festivals, including Berlin, Cannes, Sundance, and Toronto.
