Maud Hansson, a renowned Swedish stage and screen actress, was born in the vibrant city of Stockholm in 1937. Her illustrious career spanned multiple decades, with her most notable roles being that of the young witch in Ingmar Bergman's critically acclaimed film "The Seventh Seal" and as the lovable character "Lina" in the beloved Astrid Lindgren's "Emil in Lonneberga" film series.
Hansson's journey into the world of acting began when she was accepted into Malmö City Theatre's prestigious dramatic school in 1955. During her studies, she had the unique opportunity to participate in Ingmar Bergman's pilot study "Trämålning/Wood Painting", which later evolved into "The Seventh Seal". Her experience working with Bergman also led to roles in his other notable films, including "Smultronstället/Wild Strawberries" and "Venetianskan/The Venetian".
Despite her success on the big screen, Hansson's true passion was to work on stage, as part of an ensemble. She achieved this by performing with renowned directors at esteemed theatres in Malmö, Gothenburg, and Stockholm. Throughout her career, she appeared in a total of 25 feature films and television productions.
In her personal life, Hansson married the Greek-Russian actor Petros Fissoun in 1965, and the couple would often reside in Greece. Sadly, Maud Hansson passed away on October 1, 2020, at the age of 83, in her hometown of Stockholm.
