Mary Faktor's journey in the world of acting began in her hometown of Chicago, where she started her career at the age of 33 as a background talent in several major films, including The Untouchables, Adventures in Babysitting, Uncle Buck, and Midnight Run, among many others.
As she continued to hone her craft, Mary began getting cast in local commercials and industrial films, and she also trained at The Second City of Chicago. After graduating, she joined the Improv troupe, General Eclectic, where she wrote, produced, and toured with her original one-woman comedy show, The Six Ages of Woman, which has been a staple of her performances for audiences nationally and internationally to this day.
In 1990, Mary made the move to Cleveland, Ohio, where she joined the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) and continued to work in television commercials, radio voice-overs, and industrial films. Her big break came in 2003 when she was cast in the opening flashback of the HBO/Miramax film, American Splendor, alongside Paul Giamatti. Although the film was nominated for the "Best Original Screenplay" Oscar, it lost to Lord of the Rings.
Since then, Mary has had supporting roles in numerous independent SAG films, and she has continued to work as a professional actress, comedian, and speaker. She is married with two grown children and five grandchildren, and she is a member of both SAG-AFTRA and the Global Speakers Federation and National Speakers Association.
In addition to her acting career, Mary offers her original keynote presentations and life-balance workshops nationally and internationally, and she continues to present her popular comedy show to help organizations, churches, charities, hospitals, and schools raise funds.
