Martin Hynes, a native of Eugene, Oregon, embarked on his academic journey at Columbia University, where he earned a degree in history. Concurrently, he honed his skills in New York's vibrant theater and sketch comedy scene, laying the groundwork for a future in the entertainment industry.
Following his undergraduate studies, Hynes pursued a graduate degree in film at the University of Southern California (USC),receiving the prestigious Paramount Pictures Fellowship in the process. His student film, "Al as in Al," premiered at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival, hosted by HBO, and was subsequently selected by USC to commemorate the best student work in the school's 75-year history.
Upon completing his graduate studies, Hynes ventured into feature film direction, helming the low-budget independent production "The Big Split," in which he shared the spotlight with Judy Greer. The film made its world premiere at the AFI's Los Angeles International Film Festival. Additionally, Hynes showcased his talents in the critically acclaimed short film "George Lucas In Love," earning a Best Actor award at the San Sebastian festival for his portrayal of a young George Lucas.
Throughout his career, Hynes has penned scripts for prominent studios, including Universal/Imagine, Disney, and New Line, solidifying his reputation as a versatile and accomplished filmmaker.
