M.F. Bernier was born in Nashua, New Hampshire to Jackie and Ray Bernier. He attended both Grammar and Junior High School in Merrimack, New Hampshire, where his talent was first discovered. He then moved on to Sanborn Regional High School in Kingston, and after graduation, he served four years in the US Air Force in both California and Germany.
Following his discharge, Bernier returned to Germany and resided as an "Ex-Pat" in Wiesbaden, FRG, playing music in a few bands on the club circuit until the end of 1985. However, it was another five years before he returned to the stage, starring in the play "I Never Sang for My Father".
Bernier spent the better part of a decade on the stage in Baltimore, delivering solid stage work in AXISTheatre's productions of "Angels in America", "Love! Valour! Compassion!", and "God's Country". He also worked with AXIS Theatre and its artistic director Brian Klaas and managing director Jon Lipitz, producing 10 seasons of some of the most artistically fulfilling theatre in his career.
In television, Bernier guest-starred in "Cold Case" on CBS, "Homicide: Life on the Street" on NBC, "Las Vegas" on NBC, and "Alias" on ABC. He also appeared in various leading and supporting roles in indie films and major motion pictures, including the leading role opposite Jennifer Fontaine in their collaborative work "The Last Time We Were...".
M.F. Bernier has collaborated with Jennifer Fontaine on several projects, including the short film "The Last Time We Were...", which won a Silver Remi at WorldFest/Houston 2006. He is also working on adapting the screenplay for his novel "Glass Houses", which is expected to be available by early 2023.
Throughout his career, Bernier has been supported by his partner Suzie, who has provided him with encouragement and belief in his dreams.
