Mark Bamford, a talented writer and director, was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but spent most of his childhood in New York. After graduating from New York University in 1989 with a combined major in French Literature and Linguistics, and a minor in Anthropology, he ventured to Los Angeles, where he worked as a freelance screenwriter for several years before creating the short film, Hero, in 2000.
This groundbreaking short film earned Bamford the prestigious Atom Films "Director to Watch" Award in 2001 and was sold worldwide for television, including airing on the esteemed PBS network in the United States.
Bamford's first feature film, the critically acclaimed Cape of Good Hope, was co-written and directed while he was living in Cape Town, South Africa. Released in 2004, the film received widespread critical acclaim, earning numerous prizes and nominations, including a Special Recognition from the National Board of Review, a nomination for Best Independent Film of the Year at the NAACP Image Awards, and several Best Film and Audience Awards at prominent film festivals globally.
Currently, Bamford is working on his next feature film project in London, England, where he resides with his wife and creative partner, Suzanne Kay, a co-writer and producer, and their two children.
