Biography

Marcela Said is a multifaceted filmmaker with a dual Franco-Chilean nationality, whose creative endeavors have been shaped by her academic background in Philosophy of Art in Chile and her Master's degree in Media and Languages from the prestigious University of La Sorbonne.

Prior to venturing into feature filmmaking, Marcela gained valuable experience by directing four thought-provoking political documentaries, including "El Mocito", which garnered attention at the 2011 Berlinale Forum.

Her debut feature film, "The Summer of Flying Fish", premiered at the esteemed Directors' Fortnight in 2013, marking a significant milestone in her career as a director.

Los Perros, Marcela's sophomore feature film, was selected for the Cannes Critics' Week in 2017 and has since garnered widespread recognition, including winning numerous prestigious awards such as "Horizontes Latinos" at the San Sebastian Film Festival, the Jury Prize at the Biarritz Film Festival, Best Film at the Calcutta International Film Festival, Best Screenplay at the Cairo International Film Festival, and was even shortlisted for the Best Latino American Movie GOYA prize.
