Malavika Mohanan is a talented Indian actress who has made a significant mark in the South Indian film industry, particularly in Malayalam and Tamil films. Born to cinematographer K.U. Mohanan, she comes from a family with a strong background in the film industry.
Malavika pursued her bachelor's degree in Mass Media from Wilson College, Mumbai. During her college days, she accompanied her father to a fairness cream shoot starring Mammootty, where she was approached by the actor to act in the Malayalam film Pattam Pole (2013) alongside his son Dulquer Salmaan. She played the role of Riya in this film, marking her acting debut.
Her subsequent film, Nirnnayakam (2015),earned her great reviews, and she went on to act in the Kannada film Naanu Mattu Varalakshmi (2016) alongside G.K.V. Prithvi. Her performance as the protagonist Varalakshmi received positive reviews from critics.
In 2017, Malavika made her Hindi film debut with Beyond the Clouds (2017) as Tara, a film that was screened at multiple international film festivals before its release. She also appeared in the Malayalam film The Great Father (2017) as Meera the same year.
Malavika's foray into the Tamil film industry began with the film Petta (2019),where she played the role of Poongodi Malik. To prepare for her role, she hired a Tamil-speaking tutor to help her with her dialogues. In 2020, she appeared in the web series Masaba Masaba (2020) on Netflix.
In 2021, she acted in the Tamil film Master (2021) as Charulatha alongside Joseph Vijay. The following year, she was cast in the film Maaran (2022) as Thara opposite Dhanush and appeared in the music video Badshah & Payal Dev: Tauba (2022) sung by Payal Dev and Badshah. She also appeared in Christy (2023),where she played the lead role.
Malavika's achievements include being featured on the cover of SMARTlife magazine in 2019 and winning the Acting Sensation of the Year award at the Asiavision Awards the same year.
