Biography

Mala Wright's captivating journey in the world of acting began at the tender age of four, when she first caught the acting bug. Prior to that, she had already developed a passion for reading, having started at the age of three. In fact, she was so enthusiastic about storytelling that she would often put on impromptu performances in the family yard, utilizing drying bed sheets as a makeshift stage curtain. Donning her warm and cozy pajamas, Wright would belt out Christmas carols, and the roar of applause would leave the five-year-old hooked.

As a family affair, performing is not only a fascination for Wright, but also a deeply ingrained interest. She is, in fact, related to accomplished actress Nia Long and renowned Comedienne Sommore. This innate talent, combined with her enthusiasm, led Wright to appear in numerous local plays and productions throughout her childhood and teenage years. Her early performances included local musicals, cable television appearances on telethons and showcases, and even modeling in pageants.

During her formative years, Wright was enrolled at Villa Victoria Academy, where she attended from kindergarten through 12th grade. Simultaneously, she started competing in pageants, winning finalist titles in the Hemisphere and NJ State Pageants. Her artistic talents extended beyond performing, as her artwork was exhibited and published locally in magazines and newspapers.

Following high school, Wright attended Mercer County Community College, where she earned an Associate's Degree in the Arts. Subsequently, she was awarded another academic scholarship, allowing her to transfer to Rider University, where she completed her studies with a Bachelor's Degree in Radio and TV Communications. Wright's academic pursuits also took her to Berlin, Germany and London, England, where she studied acting and music through Rider's Interim Studies Program. She was also inducted into Alpha Psi Omega, the National Honor Society for the Dramatic Arts.

Wright's impressive pageant record continued, as she went on to win first place talent and photogenic awards and titles for The Tri-State Hemisphere Pageant, securing another scholarship, Miss Jersey Hemisphere, and taking first runner-up in the talent portion of the U.S. Show Biz Competition.

After college, Wright's television appearances extended beyond the United States, as she appeared as a guest panelist on Ask E. Jean with Elle Magazine Columnist, E Jean Carroll, for the short-lived NBC network, America's Talking. She has also appeared on the Japanese morning show, Mezamashi TV, and Sad Serenade for Korean Television, sharing her talents with international audiences.
