Luke Newberry is a British actor from Exeter, England, who trained at the prestigious Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. He gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Kieren Walker in the BBC series "In the Flesh," earning a BAFTA nomination for Best Leading Actor.
Luke's television credits include "Gentleman Jack," "The Singapore Grip," "To Walk Invisible," "From Darkness," "Banana," "Lightfields," and "Mrs. Biggs." In 2013, he was selected as one of Screen International's "Stars of Tomorrow."
On the big screen, Luke played the lead role of Derek 'Dusty' Springfield in the film "Dusty & Me," which won the Grand Prize Best Feature at the Marina Del Rey Film Festival and received Best Feature nominations at the Carmel International Film Festival and the Tallinn Black Nights Festival. His other film credits include Dustin Hoffman's directorial debut "Quartet," Joe Wright's "Anna Karenina," "The Legend of Hercules," "Frankenstein's Army," and "8 Minutes Idle."
Luke made his stage debut as Haemon in Sophocles' "Antigone" at the National Theatre, alongside Jodie Whittaker and Christopher Eccleston. He then starred as Gabe in the UK premiere of "Teddy Ferrara" at the Donmar Warehouse and featured as Eli Wolcott in the UK premiere of Tony Kushner's "The Intelligent Homosexual's Guide to Capitalism & Socialism with a Key to the Scriptures" at the Hampstead Theatre.
In 2018, Luke portrayed Malcolm in the Royal Shakespeare Company's production of "Macbeth," directed by Polly Findlay, which transferred to the Barbican Centre in London. In 2019, he was awarded Third Prize at the Ian Charleson Awards for his performance.
