Biography

Lucille Soong, a talented individual with a rich and diverse background, was born in Beijing, China, a city steeped in history and culture. At the tender age of 22, she made the bold decision to relocate to Hong Kong, a hub of economic and cultural activity.

Her journey to stardom began when she was discovered by the renowned English director, Lewis Gilbert. He saw something special in her and cast her in the feature film "Ferry To Hong Kong" alongside the illustrious Orson Welles.

As the 1960s swung into action, Lucille found herself in the midst of the vibrant London scene. It was during this time that she was pursued by a talent agent who offered her a role in the historical epic "55 Days at Peking" alongside Charlton Heston and Ava Gardner. This marked a significant milestone in her career, as she became the first Chinese fashion model to be featured in the English Models Directory.

Lucille's impressive resume also includes a guest appearance in the long-running British television series "Coronation Street". She went on to land the leading lady role in the American film "One More Time" opposite the legendary Sammy Davis Jr., directed by the inimitable Jerry Lewis.

As she transitioned to Hollywood, Lucille secured notable feature roles in "Joy Luck Club" and "Freaky Friday". Her television credits include recurring roles in "Desperate Housewives", "According to Jim", "Dharma & Greg", "Huff", and "Bones" before landing the iconic role of "Grandma Huang" in the popular sitcom "Fresh Off the Boat".
