Lorayn DeLuca was born on Long Island, New York, into a large Italian family. Her Sicilian father, Sal, built an in-ground pool in their backyard, which became the site of many memorable moments. Desi Arnaz-like, Sal would never put down his cigar, and Lorayn would often be thrown into the pool as soon as she could walk, with the instruction to swim or sink. With the help of God, Lorayn learned to keep her head above water and developed a strong sense of resilience.
Lorayn's mother, Marge, was an artist who kept everything running smoothly. With her fiery red hair and warm demeanor, she would always have a supply of homemade pizza, watermelon, and orange Kool-Aid on hand. Marge believed that as long as there was music, food, and family, the Christmas lights on their fence could stay on all year round, and that they could always make a party and help others forget their troubles.
Growing up, Lorayn learned to make people laugh through storytelling and entertaining. Her family would often go to the Lodge upstate, where her father would put her on the table and tell her to sing and dance. Her cousin, Joe, would arrange the set stage and play the piano, while her two sisters would help Lorayn with her hair, makeup, and wardrobe. Lorayn would put on shows, and her buoyant attitude, sense of humor, loyalty, and connection would shine through.
Despite her parents' initial disapproval, Lorayn decided to pursue higher education. She took on various jobs, including working as a meat wrapper, shoe model, paralegal, waiter, and house manager for a producer's estate. After her mother's passing, Lorayn took a job as a police training instructor at the NYPD, where she worked her way up to become a director of human resources for the NYC Department of Education.
Throughout her life, Lorayn has faced many challenges and setbacks. However, she has always chosen to focus on the positive and to use her experiences as opportunities for growth. She has found that by giving back to others and pursuing her passions, she can make a meaningful impact on the world.
Today, Lorayn is back on her quest to pursue her dreams of acting, writing, and producing. When she is not on set or reading scripts, she loves to photograph nature with her rescue Yorkie, Bridget, and partner by her side.
