Lily Chakraborty is a renowned Bengali actress, acclaimed for her natural acting skills and versatility in portraying various characters on the big and small screens. Born on August 8, 1941, in Dhaka, Lily began her acting career in the late 1950s, debuting as a supporting actress in the film "Bhanu Pelo Lottery" in 1958.
Throughout her illustrious career, Lily has appeared in numerous Bengali films, including "Adwitiya", "Fuleswari", "Mukhjay Paribar", and "Janani". Her collaboration with acclaimed director Gulzar led to some of her most memorable performances, such as in the sensitive subject "Achanak" (1973),where she played the role of the heroine opposite Vinod Khanna, and in the super hit film "Mausam" (1975),alongside Sanjeev Kumar, Sharmila Tagore, and Om Shivpuri.
Lily has also acted in films directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, including the super hit "Chupke Chupke" (1975),where she played the character "Lata Kumar Srivastav", and "Alaap" (1977),in which she was one of the heroines alongside Amitabh Bachchan. Her repertoire also includes films directed by Satyajit Ray, such as "Jana Aranya" (1976) and "Shakha Proshaka".
In addition to her work in Bengali cinema, Lily has acted in films in other languages, including Malayalam, Bhojpuri, and Assamese.
