Biography

Liam Regan was born in 1985 in South Yorkshire, United Kingdom, where he grew up surrounded by the horror genre from a young age. His fascination with horror began when he was just five years old, after secretly watching the 1962 film 'What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?' without his parents' knowledge or consent.

As he grew older, Liam's interest in horror only intensified, and he developed a particular fondness for independent cinema. This was largely due to his discovery of Troma Entertainment's back catalog and his subsequent purchase of 'The Toxic Avenger Part II' from his local Blockbuster video store.

Liam's passion for filmmaking led him to study screenwriting and filmmaking, and he gained valuable experience by working on the sets of Lloyd Kaufman's films, including 'Return to Nuke 'Em High Volumes 1 & 2'. He eventually went on to form his own production company, Refuse Films (formerly Cincest Films),and began working on his own projects.

The idea for 'Banjo' was born out of an accident that Liam experienced during a trip to London, which inspired him to create a treatment for a short film. The resulting screenplay, titled 'Confessions of Peltzer', was a 15-page short film that premiered at the TromaDance film festival in 2013.

The success of 'Confessions of Peltzer' led Liam to develop the characters and story into a feature-length screenplay, titled 'Banjo'. The film was shot in South Yorkshire, UK during the summer of 2014 and had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in 2015.

'Banjo' went on to play at numerous film festivals, and its title was later changed to 'My Bloody Banjo'. The film was released on DVD and VOD in the US in 2016 and screened on the Troma NOW! platform in 2017.

In addition to his work on 'Banjo', Liam has also collaborated with Lloyd Kaufman on his latest project, 'Shakespeare's Shitstorm', which is set to be released in 2019.
