Liam Howlett, the mastermind behind the iconic music group Prodigy, was born on August 21, 1971, in Essex, England. From a young age, Liam's passion for music was evident, and he spent most of his childhood listening to various musical styles, particularly Ska. He developed a talent for creating remixes using a cassette recorder and pause button, which would later influence his music style.
As a teenager, Liam became involved in the Hip-Hop movement, exploring graffiti, clothing, and breakdancing. He was heavily influenced by Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, as well as the 1984 movie Beat Street. A friend introduced him to a remix, and Liam was hooked. He started practicing DJing and eventually joined a local Hip-Hop group called "Cut 2 Kill."
After obtaining a degree in graphic design, Liam worked during the day and continued DJing at night. His boss at Metropolitan magazine, impressed by his talent, offered to manage the band and provide funding for an album. However, the group faced financial difficulties, and the album was never released.
Liam's love for music was reinvigorated when he discovered the "rave" scene and began attending parties at "The Barn." He started DJing at the club and eventually formed The Prodigy with Keith Flint, Leeroy Thornhill, and Sharky. The group's first concert was in 1990, and they quickly gained popularity within the rave scene.
The Prodigy's debut album, "Experience," was released in 1991 and was critically acclaimed. The group's subsequent albums, "Music for the Jilted Generation" and "The Fat of the Land," solidified their position as one of the most influential electronic music groups of all time.
After a six-year hiatus, Liam returned to the music scene with the single "Baby's Got A Temper." The group's fourth album, "Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned," was released in 2004, showcasing a more aggressive sound.
