Len's journey into acting was a later-in-life endeavor, sparked by his early retirement from the workforce in 1984. Prior to his professional foray, he was a member of the Canadian Actors' Equity Association (C.A.E.A.),before transitioning to the Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists (Actra) where he completed five acting gigs as a full member.
Following his training with Bill Davidson and utilizing personal coaching for many of his auditions, Len's film acting credits began to accumulate, particularly in the slower market of Edmonton. His work with Great West Canadian Talent led to roles in Edmonton, Calgary, and Regina, including a principal role as Chief Townsend in the CBS movie Family Blessings, shot in Regina.
Len's subsequent roles showcased his versatility, ranging from a Minister in the ABC movie Oklahoma City Bombing, shot in Calgary, to a role in another ABC movie, Strangers In A Small Town, and a series regular on the Edmonton series The Mentors. He also appeared in the docudrama In The Nick of Time, the feature film The War Bride, the Italian-Canadian co-production Almost America, and the television movie 100 Days in The Jungle for CTV.
Notable roles followed, including a principal role on the Calgary-filmed series Tom Stone for CBC, and appearances in the comedy Whitecoats, shot in Edmonton, and the feature film Comeback Season, shot in Calgary. Len's wife, Shirley, joined him on-screen in the feature film Santa's Slay, shot in Edmonton, and the feature film Freezer Burn, shot in Edmonton.
Later roles included a flashback scene as the grandfather of one of the main characters, Jack, on the Calgary series Heartland, and a crotchety Old Man Hafford on the last season of Corner Gas, shot near Regina. His final role was a principal part in the American feature film Cut Bank, shot in Edmonton.
Len's passion for acting extended beyond his professional pursuits, as his son-in-law, Dick Sahuri, also followed in his footsteps, appearing as an extra in various film and TV projects, as well as a few commercials.
