As a young woman, Leigh's passion for fashion began to take center stage. At Western Michigan University, she pursued fashion courses, honed her skills, and modeled for local designers and stores, laying the groundwork for a future in the industry. This early success inspired Leigh to take the leap and relocate to New York City, where she began her career as a professional model with esteemed agencies Eileen Ford of Ford Models and Wilhelmina Models.

While modeling, Leigh continued her education, transferring to New York University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Literature and Journalism, as well as an Associate of Applied Science degree in Marketing.
