Lance Barber was born in Battle Creek, Michigan, where his life took a dramatic turn when his father, an Army military police officer, was tragically killed in the line of duty when Barber was just one year old. Left to raise him alone, his mother did an outstanding job of bringing him up in Battle Creek.
It was when Barber was just seven years old that he first discovered his passion for acting, after watching a production of Grease, which left a lasting impression on him and ignited a fire within him that would drive him to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.
After graduating from Pennfield High School in 1991, Barber went on to attend Kellogg Community College, where he honed his acting skills by performing in school productions while earning his associate's degree. Following a year-long stint at the Barn Theatre, where he had the privilege of working alongside the talented Jennifer Garner, Barber made the bold decision to move to Chicago and take a chance at the renowned Second City under the guidance of the legendary Del Close.
For five years, Barber was part of the Second City troupe, where he had the opportunity to perform alongside the talented Jack McBrayer. After his time in Chicago, Barber made the bold move to Los Angeles, where he made his television debut on the popular show Gilmore Girls.
It was in 2005 that Barber landed his breakout role, playing the character of Paulie G. in HBO's critically acclaimed series The Comeback, starring alongside the talented Lisa Kudrow.
Fast-forward to 2017, and Barber is still going strong, currently playing the role of George Cooper, Sr. on the hit TV show Young Sheldon, a spin-off of the beloved series The Big Bang Theory. In his personal life, Barber resides in Los Angeles with his wife Aliza, a talented chef, and their two children, a son and daughter.
