Kyle Romanek is a multi-talented individual, boasting a wide range of skills that span the realms of film direction, cinematography, and writing. As a recipient of two Emmy Awards, alongside a small team, for short films featured on the Oprah Winfrey Network, Kyle's accomplishments in the film industry are truly noteworthy.
From a young age, Kyle's passion for filmmaking was evident, with his first foray into film production dating back to when he was just nine years old. This early start would set the stage for his continued growth and development as a filmmaker, which was further solidified during his time at Full Sail University's film production program.
Kyle's education provided a strong foundation for his understanding of communication, composition, and storytelling techniques, as well as artistic concepts. This foundation would serve him well as he transitioned into the professional realm, where he was accepted into the Creative Minds Filmmaking Institute at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.
Following his time at the festival, Kyle gained valuable experience by camera assisting on reality and scripted television shows airing on prominent networks such as the Travel Channel, Lifetime, and TLC. This experience would inspire and motivate him to pursue his own creative projects, including his first feature film, "Astray", which he wrote and directed.
In the fall of 2016, Kyle co-hosted a panel at San Francisco Comic-Con, where he shared his expertise on world building in low-budget cinema, focusing on his second feature film, "Arg Stairs", which is currently in post-production.
Kyle is also the co-founder of Malakye Films, a production company he established with his creative partner, Mallory Cunningham. Through Malakye Films, Kyle has produced several projects, including the short film "Ditch the Van", which premiered at Mountainfilm in 2017. The company is currently working on a short film titled "Simone" and a TV pilot, "F.A.M.", through W.M.Z. Entertainment, both of which are in various stages of production and post-production.
