Additionally, she was elected Miss Scandinavia in the same year, solidifying her status as a prominent figure in the beauty pageant circuit.
Wayborn's breakthrough role came when she portrayed the iconic screen legend Greta Garbo in The Silent Lovers (1980),drawing the attention of producers involved in the James Bond film franchise.
In 1983, she landed the role of Magda in Octopussy, a James Bond film that would go on to define her career. During a pivotal fight scene, an unexpected mishap resulted in Wayborn suffering several broken toes. Despite this setback, she became renowned for her impressive fight scenes in Octopussy, a feat that preceded the rise of prominent female action heroines in the box office. Magda, her character, demonstrated remarkable agility and martial arts prowess, defeating numerous guards under the command of Kamal Khan.
Following her stint in Octopussy, Wayborn made appearances in various American television series, including The Love Boat (1982-1986),Airwolf (1986),MacGyver (1986),Dallas (1986),General Hospital (1987),Designing Women (1991),Baywatch (1993-1999),and That '70s Show (2000),where she reunited with her Octopussy co-star Maud Adams.
In the 1990s, Kristina Wayborn appeared in the Swedish television series Vänner och Fiender (1996-2000),one of the longest-running series in Swedish television history. Notably, her co-star in this series was another Swedish Bond girl, Mary Stavin.
