Biography

Kiran Rao, a highly accomplished individual, earned her undergraduate degree in economics from the esteemed Sophia College for Women in Mumbai, graduating in 1995. Her academic pursuits continued as she went on to pursue a master's degree at the renowned AJK Mass Communication Research Center at Jamia Millia Islamia University in New Delhi.

Kiran Rao's professional journey began in 2001, when she started working as an assistant director. It was during this time that she met the accomplished actor Aamir Khan on the sets of the critically acclaimed film Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India (2001). Their professional collaboration eventually blossomed into a romantic relationship, and the couple tied the knot in December 2005. Kiran Rao became Aamir Khan's second wife.

The couple faced a few challenges, including miscarriages, before welcoming their son into the world via surrogacy on December 1, 2011. Throughout her career, Kiran Rao has been an integral part of numerous prominent films, lending her expertise as a scriptwriter, director, and producer. Her most notable work to date is the highly acclaimed Mumbai Diaries (2010),which showcased her exceptional skills in all three capacities.
