Kevin Mark Levrone is a renowned American IFBB professional bodybuilder, IFBB Hall of Famer, blogger, musician, and actor born on July 16, 1964. Despite a long absence from the professional bodybuilding stage, Kevin announced his return to Mr. Olympia in 2016.
Kevin's early life was marked by tragedy as he lost both parents to cancer at a young age. He was born to an Italian American father and an African American mother. Kevin's professional IFBB career began in 1991 after he finished first in the NPC Finals.
In 1992, Kevin suffered a severe injury during the Mr. Olympia competition, tearing his major and minor pectorals while bench pressing 600 pounds. He required two surgeries, with the first one lasting eight hours, and later developed an infection that necessitated a second surgery. Many thought Kevin's career was over at that time.
Kevin has participated in more than 12 Mr. Olympia competitions, earning him the nickname "The Uncrowned King of Mr. Olympia" due to his consistent placement without ever taking first place. His inspiration to become a bodybuilder came from seeing his cousin, who had served in the military and returned home with an impressive physique.
After ending his competition career, Kevin decided to pursue other challenges and interests. He enjoys playing tennis and golf, and has also acted in films such as Backlash, Redline, and Burning Hollywood (TV Series). Kevin frequently interacts with his social media followers, hosting live Q&A sessions on Facebook.
In addition to his acting endeavors, Kevin launched an online training platform called TeamLevrone.com in early 2016 and released a supplement line, "Kevin Levrone Signature Series", in 2015. The supplement line is available in several European countries but has not yet been released in the United States.
In May 2016, after a 13-year hiatus, Kevin officially announced his return to competitive bodybuilding by accepting a special invitation to compete in Mr. Olympia 2016. He made the announcement by signing the invitation on a video on his website, the LevroneReport.com.
