Kenny is a renowned television and film director, boasting an impressive array of award-winning credits to his name. His recent work includes the feature film "Dirt Road to Lafayette" by James Kelman, as well as the 6-part thriller "Acceptable Risk" by Ron Hutchinson for Saffron Pictures/RTE/Canada.
Prior to this, Kenny directed the BAFTA and RTS-winning "The Cops" and "Buried" for Tony Garnett, as well as "Gas Attack" written by Rowan Joffe for Channel 4. The latter won numerous accolades, including the Michael Powell Award at the Edinburgh International Film Festival, the Special Jury Prize at the Courchevel Film Festival, and the Best Actor Award at the Cherbourg Film Festival.
Kenny's other notable works include "Summer" for Sixteen Films, which won multiple BAFTAs, including best direction, best film, and best actor award for Robert Carlyle at the EIFF. Additionally, his film "Yasmin", written by Simon Beaufoy, took home the Audience Award at Dinard and the Ecumenical Award at Locarno, as well as several best actor awards.
Kenny's extensive television credits include "Charlie", a 3-part political drama for RTE, which was nominated for Best Drama at the Irish Film and Television Awards. He has also directed "The Ark", a single TV film for Red Planet/BBC1, "Paddington", a TV film for BBC 1 about the Paddington rail crash, "Magnificent 7" for BBC1, a single TV film about a family on the autism spectrum, which won the Signis Prix - Festival de Television Monte Carlo, and several episodes of popular shows such as "Case Histories", "Spooks", "Paranoid", and "Being Human".
Furthermore, Kenny has also ventured into documentary filmmaking, directing the short film "The Right to Life", which was part of the portmanteau feature "The Ten Commandments", inspired by the UN declaration of human rights. His theatre directing credits include "A Place with the Pigs" by Athol Fugard, which won a fringe first, as well as Joe Orton's "Loot" and several new plays.
