Katie Groshong, the talented individual, was born to Fred and Deanna Groshong, and grew up in the quaint town of Wellsville, Kansas, alongside her older sister Holly and younger brother Noah. After graduating from Wellsville High School, Katie decided to pursue a career as a vocalist while attending Belmont University's School of Music in Nashville, Tennessee. During her time at Belmont, she faced a significant challenge when she was diagnosed with vocal polyps, and after considering surgery, she opted for a different path.
It was then that Katie discovered her passion for acting, and her journey in the entertainment industry began. In 2001, she attended a musical theatre rehearsal, where she was spotted by directors Steve and Jeff Wedding, who cast her in their first feature film, "Blind". Katie subsequently relocated to Los Angeles for four years to pursue a career in acting, but in 2005, she decided to return to Nashville and co-founded a production company with Jeff Wedding, GypsyRoot Productions.
Their inaugural project was a Super 8 short film, "Gracie: The Diary of a Coma Patient", which received widespread acclaim and won several awards, including "Best of the Fest" and "Best Cinematography" at the Eerie Horror Film Festival. The success of "Gracie" paved the way for their second collaborative project, a 16mm HD feature film, "A Measure of the Sin", adapted from an award-winning story by Kristy Nielsen, which began production in October 2007.
Throughout her career, Katie continues to travel for acting opportunities, but Nashville remains her home, and she is deeply committed to her roots in the city.
