Kathryn Ferguson, a Belfast-born writer and director, has made a significant impact in the documentary filmmaking world. Her innovative and boundary-pushing work has been showcased globally, earning her the inaugural BFI & Chanel Award for Creative Audacity in 2022.
In 2018, Ferguson's short documentary Taking the Waters premiered at Sheffield Doc Fest, and was longlisted for a BAFTA. This achievement was followed by her collaboration with Passion Pictures on the short film Space to Be for The Guardian's acclaimed documentary series in 2021.
Ferguson's debut feature documentary, Nothing Compares, was released in 2022. This film delves into the artistry and activism of Sinéad O'Connor, and premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2022.
