Karen's career continued to flourish, with appearances on popular TV shows such as Police Story, Baretta, and the cult classic film FM, which served as a precursor to the hit television series WKRP In Cincinatti.
Tragedy struck in June 1979, when Karen was involved in a devastating car accident while driving to an audition. The collision was caused by a drunk driver, and Karen suffered severe injuries. Despite her valiant efforts to recover, she ultimately succumbed to an accidental overdose of phenobarbital, a medication prescribed to treat seizures caused by the accident, just a month later.
