Biography

Julie Brown is a multifaceted American creative force, boasting a remarkable résumé that spans the realms of comedy, acting, writing, singing, and directing. Born and raised in Van Nuys, affectionately known as "The Valley", Julie began her journey as a stand-up comedian in the vibrant San Francisco club scene. Upon her return to Los Angeles, she swiftly transitioned into acting and writing, landing guest roles in popular sitcoms such as "Laverne & Shirley", "The Jeffersons", "Newhart", and "Quantum Leap".

As her career continued to flourish, Julie expanded her artistic repertoire by incorporating music into her act, releasing an EP featuring the hit singles "The Homecoming Queen's Got a Gun" and "Earth Girls Are Easy". The latter's success was further amplified when it evolved into a film she co-wrote and starred in alongside Geena Davis, Jeff Goldblum, and Jim Carrey. Additionally, she created and starred in the MTV comedy series "Just Say Julie" and the Showtime satire "Medusa: Dare to be Truthful", which earned her the Writers Guild award for Best Comedy Special.

Julie's impressive resume also includes co-creating the FOX sketch comedy series "The Edge" alongside Jennifer Aniston, as well as a starring role in the film "Clueless" and its subsequent television series, which ran for three seasons. Furthermore, she created and starred in the Comedy Central series "Strip Mall" for two seasons and co-wrote the Disney Channel original movie "Camp Rock", which catapulted the careers of Demi Lovato and The Jonas Brothers.

In addition to her numerous on-screen credits, Julie has also made her mark in the world of animation, lending her voice to beloved characters in "Animaniacs", "Batman", "Pinky and the Brain", and "A Goofy Movie". Currently, Julie is working on a sequel to "Medusa" as well as "Earth Girls are Easy: The Musical" and her debut Young Adult novel.
