Julian's remarkable journey in filmmaking began at the tender age of ten, when he started creating 8mm and Super 8 movies with a camera gifted by his father. One of these early films garnered recognition at the prestigious Canadian Amateur Film Festival, foreshadowing his future success in the industry.
As he continued to hone his craft, Julian pursued a parallel career as a drummer in a Canadian rock band. However, he eventually decided to dedicate the majority of his time to the film and television industry, where he learned the art of Steadicam from the Academy Award-winning inventor, Garrett Brown, in 1979.
Julian's unique talent and expertise in Steadicam operation earned him the esteemed honor of touring alongside Pope John Paul II in 1984 for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). This experience further solidified his reputation as a Steadicam master, which he achieved in 1988.
Throughout his illustrious career, Julian has worn multiple hats, serving as a Director, Cinematographer, Steadicam Operator, Camera Operator, Writer, and Editor. His innovative style has been showcased in various productions, including the CBS TV series, Nash Bridges, starring Don Johnson and Cheech Marin.
Julian has spent the past 35 years in the entertainment industry, boasting an impressive portfolio of accomplishments. Notably, he has directed TV series such as "Nash Bridges", "The Strip", and "The District", as well as the Lifetime TV movie, "A Mother's Testimony", and the short film, "Heartburn".
In addition to his television work, Julian has directed music videos for a wide range of genres, including the critically acclaimed "City of Dreams: Artists for Tennessee Flood Relief", "Live Forever" by Billy Joe Shaver, "Wal-Mart Girls" by Danny Greigo, and "Redneck in all of Us" by Kaleb McIntire, among many others.
