Josie Rourke

Josie is the esteemed Artistic Director of the renowned Donmar Warehouse, a prestigious theatre institution. Her impressive productions have successfully transferred to both Broadway and the West End, garnering numerous accolades including Olivier Awards. Furthermore, her shows have been skillfully adapted into live cinema broadcasts, featuring an array of talented actors such as Tom Hiddleston, Janet McTeer, Dominic West, and Gemma Arterton. One of her most notable projects was the U.K. Election Night Broadcast of the play, The Vote, which she co-created with writer James Graham and directed in real-time, starring the legendary Dame Judi Dench. The Vote received a BAFTA nomination for "Best Live Event". Prior to her appointment as Artistic Director at the Donmar Warehouse, Josie held the same position at The Bush Theatre, where she nurtured the early work of notable playwrights including James Graham, Lucy Kirkwood, Nick Payne, Steve Waters, Penelope Skinner, Jack Thorne, and Anthony Weigh. As a director, Josie has also worked on numerous Shakespeare productions for The Royal Shakespeare Company, as well as in the West End and on Broadway, collaborating with the likes of Matt Charman on his play, The Machine. Her remarkable career has seen her succeed esteemed directors Sam Mendes and Michael Grandage at the Donmar Warehouse, making her the first woman to helm a major London theatre.
