He was a writer, best known for his work on several notable comic book series, including Captain America, which was first published in 1944.

In addition to Captain America, Poland was also responsible for creating Scouts to the Rescue, a comic book series that debuted in 1939, as well as Manhunt of Mystery Island, which was first published in 1945.
