Jon Sanders was born in Kent, a county in the southeastern part of England. Following his education at Cambridge University, he went on to pursue his passion for film at the renowned Slade School of Art, where he studied under the guidance of Thorold Dickinson.
Throughout his extensive and distinguished career in the film industry, Jon Sanders has worn many hats, including editor, sound recordist, documentary maker, and writer/director. One of his most notable achievements was his work on the Oscar-winning film "From Mao to Mozart," which chronicled Isaac Stern's groundbreaking tour of China.
Sanders has also collaborated with the talented artist Lucia Noguiera on the short film "Smoke," which was completed in 1996 and is now proudly part of the Tate Collection. His feature film debut, "Painted Angels," premiered at the prestigious Rotterdam Film Festival and was later released in the UK in 2000 by Artificial Eye. This 106-minute film, starring Kelly McGillis and Brenda Fricker, delves into the world of prostitution in the Wild West.
Jon Sanders' second feature film, "Low Tide," premiered at Curzon Soho in January 2008 and was later released at independent screens around the country. In 2012, his film "Late September" was released at the ICA London and on DVD by Verve Pictures.
