John Daniels, a native of Gary, Indiana, spent his formative years in the Midwest, specifically in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he attended Butler University.
His journey in the entertainment industry began as a songwriter at Capitol Records, marking the starting point of his illustrious career.
In addition to his musical pursuits, John founded his own magazine, "Elegant," and held various executive positions, including executive director of the Black Economic Union in the mid-1960s.
Moreover, he served as the manager of the R&B group the Love Machine and founded the popular Los Angeles nightclub Maverick's Flat, which he still owns to this day.
John's foray into acting began after appearing on the game show "The Dating Game" twice, and he went on to star in two notable blaxploitation films of the 1970s.
In "Black Shampoo," he played the role of Mr. Jonathan, a super-stud hairdresser, while in "The Candy Tangerine Man," he portrayed the cunning and ruthless mack daddy pimp, the Baron.
John's filmography also includes notable roles such as a boxer in "Tender Loving Care," a rugged bounty hunter in "Bare Knuckles," and a vicious top con in "Mean Dog Blues."
Furthermore, he took on the lead role of aspiring music mogul Mike Barnett in "Getting Over," and also wrote the story and served as co-producer for the film.
