Jason R. Davis, a multifaceted individual with a passion for the arts, is the founder of the Chicago Horror Film Festival and the Indie Horror Film Festival. With a strong educational background in film studies and screenwriting, Davis has always had a deep love for writing and reading.
As a child, Davis would often wake up early in the morning before school to start writing stories. He would use his father's alarm clock as a timer, knowing that it was his designated writing time. His first typewriter was a Christmas gift, and he would spend hours clattering away, creating his own unique stories.
Throughout his middle and high school years, Davis continued to write, and when it was time to attend college, he considered pursuing a degree in the English arts. However, he had a moment of inspiration and decided to follow another passion. Davis enrolled at Columbia College, where he could study filmmaking and writing.
In 2003, Davis founded the Chicago Horror Film Festival, providing a platform for horror films from around the world to be showcased. The festival quickly gained popularity, and in 2005, Davis created its sister festival, the Indie Horror Film Festival. With a strong understanding of what makes a terrifying story, Davis has transitioned from festival director and filmmaker to fiction writer.
As a writer, Davis draws upon his extensive knowledge of the horror genre, crafting stories that are both thrilling and chilling. His passion for writing and filmmaking has led him to become a respected figure in the horror community, and his work continues to captivate audiences around the world.
