Biography

Noted thespian James Kirkwood embarked on a distinguished career in the early days of cinema, initially taking on acting roles in 1909 and rapidly rising through the ranks to secure leading parts in numerous films helmed by the esteemed D.W. Griffith. His impressive performances in Griffith's early pictures laid the groundwork for a successful transition to directing, which he undertook in 1912.
