James Jurdi was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, where he developed a passion for film from a young age.
Growing up, he honed his skills by appearing in numerous short and independent films, as well as long-running television programs such as The Bold and the Beautiful, Melrose Place, and General Hospital: Night Shift.
Jurdi's love for motion pictures continued to grow as he acted in, co-wrote, and produced the short film Nocturnal Errands, a race against time thriller that premiered at the 2012 Cannes Short Film Corner.
Making the transition to feature films, Jurdi took on roles both in front of and behind the camera, working on several projects.
One of his earliest feature film credits was Reaper, a supernatural sci-fi horror film that he co-wrote, co-produced, and co-starred in alongside Danny Trejo, Vinnie Jones, and Jake Busey. The film was picked up for distribution by Entertainment One and helped pave the way for Jurdi's next endeavor.
Jurdi's next project was the stylish crime story Pocket Listing, an L.A.-based satirical thriller that he wrote and starred in as a real estate agent who experiences a reversal of fortune during the housing crash. The film featured an all-star cast, including Rob Lowe, Burt Reynolds, and Jessica Clark, and was picked up for distribution by MGM's Orion Pictures and eOne's Momentum Films. It premiered in theatrical release and across VOD platforms, where it performed well and built a following, especially in the broker community.
Jurdi then signed on for the darkly comic action thriller Danger One, which he produced and acted in. The film centers on a nightmarish night in the lives of a group of morally conflicted paramedics who come across some dirty money and decide to keep it, only to be hunted down by its very dangerous owners. Starring opposite co-leads Tom Everett Scott and Denis O'Hare, Jurdi plays a conscientious EMT who must make some tough life or death decisions in order to survive the night. Danger One was picked up for distribution by Entertainment Studios/Freestyle Releasing and debuted theatrically and across VOD platforms.
With several other projects and scripts in current development, Jurdi's career continues to take him down interesting roads of the filmmaking frontier.
