Jakob Bokulich, an internationally exhibited artist since the age of eighteen, has gained recognition as an actor, writer, and director. His critically acclaimed film debut, Hysteria (2002),was loosely based on his experiences in Croatia during its war with Yugoslavia in the nineties.
At the age of seventeen, Bokulich moved to Europe, where he achieved remarkable success as a painter, showcasing his work in galleries in Paris, Split (Croatia),San Francisco, and other cities.
He returned to California, becoming an active member of the arts community in Oakland and San Francisco. He curated a gallery, wrote for the Artship Dance/Theater Co. with Slobodan Dan Paich, and participated in intensive workshops with Antero Alli, derived from the theatrical methods of Jerzy Grotowsky (documented in Orphans of Delirium (2004)).
Bokulich trained at the prestigious American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, an institution that has produced notable alumni such as Denzel Washington, Annette Bening, Winona Ryder, Benjamin Bratt, Elizabeth Banks, Danny Glover, and many others.
Additionally, Bokulich is a skilled boxer and Capoerista. In 2005, he relocated to Los Angeles, where he continues to work as an actor and filmmaker.
