Biography

Jackie Richardson is an acclaimed actress and a prominent singer of gospel, blues, and jazz, whose illustrious career has spanned numerous performances in concert, radio, television, and recordings across Canada and around the world.

Throughout her remarkable career, Jackie has received an impressive array of prestigious awards and nominations, including NAACP, Juno, Betty, Dora, Jesse, Gemini, TBS, and Canadian Equity Association Lifetime Achievement Awards, as well as numerous other accolades.

In recognition of her significant contributions to the city of Toronto, Jackie was honored by the Toronto Star's Commemoration of Toronto's 180th Birthday as one of 180 individuals who have helped shape the city.

In recent years, Jackie has been involved in a wide range of projects, including The Stephen Lewis Foundation's "South Africa Grandmothers Gathering in Durban", "The Nina Simone Project", Regent Park's "The Journey", Christmas concerts with The Orpheus Choir/Hanniford Brass Band, The Art of Time Ensemble, The Salvation Army Choir and Orchestra, and JazzFM's Cuba Excursion with her daughter Kim, which she considers to be her highlights of 2016.

In 2017, Jackie was thrilled to be a part of Canada's 150th Birthday celebrations, with a particular highlight being the Gala Concert "A Place To Stand: A Celebration of 150 Years of Ontario and Canada" hosted by The Lieutenant Governor of Ontario at Roy Thomson Hall and Soul Pepper Theatre's "Across The Border" program, which represented Canada in New York City for the month of July.

In 2018, Jackie has several projects lined up, including collaborations with The Art of Time Ensemble, Sean Jones Concerts, The Musical Stage Tour, Corey Butler's Hymn To Freedom Tour, and the return of The Journey with Regent Park, among others.

Above all, Jackie is deeply committed to using her platform to bring attention to and support women's and children's issues, a cause that is very close to her heart.
