Idella Johnson, a talented thespian, hailing from the vibrant city of New Orleans, Louisiana, began her journey in the world of theater by studying at Delgado Community College, laying the foundation for her future success. She subsequently pursued a degree in Music from Loyola University in New Orleans, further refining her craft.
Starting her professional career as an actor, Johnson dazzled audiences with her performances in various plays and musicals throughout the city. Her outstanding work earned her an impressive three Big Easy Awards, including one for Best Actress in a Musical and two for Best Supporting Actress, a testament to her remarkable talent.
Johnson made her screen debut in the 2011 film The Mortician, which marked the beginning of her successful foray into television and film. She went on to secure notable roles in TV and Film, including appearances in Queen of the South (2019),Greyson Family Christmas (2019),the critically acclaimed short film Blood Runs Down (2018),which garnered her a Women in Horror Film Best Performance nomination.
Most recently, Johnson delivered a masterful performance as the soulful jazz singer, Bertie, in the 2021 Sundance Audience Award-winning film Ma Belle, My Beauty, solidifying her reputation as a talented and versatile actress.
