Heather Taylor is a multifaceted writer and director who has made a name for herself by crafting thought-provoking narratives that delve into the complexities of family relationships, often infusing her stories with supernatural, horror, and science fiction elements. Hailing from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Heather holds dual Canadian and UK citizenship and is also a US Green Card holder.
As a creative force to be reckoned with, Heather has made waves in the industry with her innovative work. Her narrative podcast, Anomaly, received an official selection at the 2021 Tribeca Festival, while she co-hosts Braaains, a podcast that explores the intricacies of the human brain and how film and television portray mental health and disability representation. Heather hopes that the conversations on Braaains will shed new light on these important topics and promote a more informed understanding of mental health and disability.
Before embarking on her writing career, Heather began as a playwright and has since authored three poetry collections. With a background in journalism and advertising, Heather is a creative powerhouse who excels at generating innovative ideas and conducting extensive research. As someone born with a non-visible disability, Heather is dedicated to breaking down stigmas surrounding mental illness, disabilities, and poverty in her work.
Heather's impressive educational background includes a Master's degree in Screenwriting from City University, London, and she was a 2022 RespectAbility Lab TV Writing Fellow. Additionally, she has been a part of the Royal Court Young Writers' Program and the Bell Media Prime Time TV program (in association with ABC Signature Studios). Heather is also a proud member of the WGC Feature Film Committee.
