Dr. Girija Shettar, a former film actress of British Indian origin, has made a significant impact in the South Indian film industry. Her acting career began in 1989 when she starred in Maniratnam's critically acclaimed film Geethanjali. This notable performance was followed by her appearance in the Malayalam film Vandanam, directed by Priyadarshan, where she shared the screen with the renowned actor Mohanlal.
In 1992, Shettar was set to play the lead role in Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, but she had to leave the project mid-way due to prior commitments. Ayesha Julka subsequently replaced her after the first schedule. The same year, she starred in the Telugu film Hrudayanjali, directed by A. Raghurami Reddy, which garnered four prestigious Nandi awards. Although the film was completed in 1992, it was only released in 2002, indicating a significant delay between production and release.
