Gia Franzia was born in the picturesque coastal city of Santa Monica, California, and spent her formative years growing up in the sun-kissed Orange County. After completing her undergraduate degree in Theatre Arts from Long Beach State University in 1999, she made the bold decision to relocate to the entertainment capital of the world, Los Angeles.
Initially, Gia enrolled in various casting agencies as an extra to gain firsthand experience in the film industry, despite having never set foot on a movie set before. This bold move allowed her to learn the ins and outs of movie making during her first year in Hollywood. Her big break came soon after, when she produced and starred in her first feature film, Peace of Heart.
As Gia continued to audition and book roles in movies, she also enrolled at one of LA's most prestigious acting schools, Playhouse West, founded by the renowned Robert Carnegie and Jeff Goldblum. For four years, she honed her craft, consistently acting in plays and being invited to participate in scene nights. When time permitted, Gia volunteered her skills behind the scenes, working as a sound operator, lighting specialist, and stage crew member for multiple shows.
In 2006 and 2007, Gia co-produced and starred in the films Special Dead and Rattle Basket. The latter went on to win the coveted Best Feature Film award at the 2007 Winnipeg International Film Festival and Best Ensemble Cast at the 2007 Wine and Country Film Festival. Since then, she has consistently booked leading roles in feature-length films such as Wild Sunflowers, Night of the Flesh Eaters, Trick of the Witch, and most notably, Based on True Events, in which she shared scenes with the renowned actor William Forsythe.
While Gia's true passion remains acting and producing, in 2009, she expanded her creative horizons by co-writing her first feature film. In July 2010, she produced, starred, and co-wrote her first film, Baby of Mine, after five months of meticulous pre-production.
Gia's unwavering dedication to her craft and her unrelenting pursuit of her dreams has allowed her to build a successful career in the entertainment industry. She continues to act, produce, write, and create opportunities for herself, driven by her unshakeable conviction that her passion, hard work, dedication, and persistence will ultimately pay off.
